IDEA Pitch

Have an idea or high-tech startup you want to pitch? Would you like to pitch to one of the Southeast’s most active seed and early stage venture capital firms? Then join the IDEA Fund Partners team for IDEA Pitch!

Whether you’re seeking to raise capital, network or cold call, it’s essential that you have a descriptive, concise and well rehearsed elevator pitch. Come, listen and learn what investors are looking for in an elevator pitch from our team of active investment professionals. IDEA Pitch, held bimonthly, enables entrepreneurs to meet our team and have the opportunity to pitch their high-tech idea or startup.

We keep the format simple. Three entrepreneurs will be selected based on prior attendance and fit with our investment criteria. Each entrepreneur will have 2 minutes to deliver their elevator pitch to members of our investment team and fellow entrepreneurs in attendance. Following each pitch, the entrepreneur will have 15 minutes to address specific questions from the audience and receive pitch-specific feedback. We also regularly invite special guests – CEOs of area startups, local angel investors and other VCs – to provide added feedback. At the conclusion of the pitches, you’ll have the opportunity to network with members of our team and fellow members of the startup ecosystem over coffee and bagels.

Attendance is free but we ask that you register in advance as space is limited. This is an entrepreneur-only event and we kindly ask that service providers not register.

FAQs
How can I pitch?

Entrepreneurs are selected based on prior attendance and fit with IDEA Fund Partners’ investment criteria. Attending an event before pitching helps to ensure that you know what to expect and that you’re able to give us your best pitch. Though we do our best to accommodate requests, attending a prior event does not guarantee that you’ll be able to pitch at the next event as each event is limited to three presenting entrepreneurs.[/accordion]

Where do I apply to pitch?

To be considered to pitch please complete the registration form on Eventbrite (link above) and then follow the instructions on the order confirmation page to indicate your desire to pitch. If selected for consideration, we will contact you with more detail.

Do I qualify to pitch?

You may qualify if you can answer “yes” to the following:

1. Your company is based in the Southeast.

2. You are building a software or internet-based technology company (or other IP-based technology).

3. You have attended an IDEA Pitch event in the past.

If selected, how long will I have to pitch?

Each presenting entrepreneur will have two minutes to deliver their elevator pitch. It’s not long, but it is long enough for you to tell us why your startup is compelling and make us want to learn more. Given the time, you will not be able to use a slide deck. However, you do have the option of providing a single background image or slide if you feel it helps create a more compelling pitch.

Who are the IDEA Pitch judges?

There are no judges! Our goal is to create a venue where entrepreneurs can learn what seed and early stage investors are looking for in a pitch in a risk-free setting. Members of our investment team, special guests, and audience members will provide questions and pitch-specific feedback to presenting entrepreneurs.

Can I just attend and listen?

Not quite ready to pitch your high-tech startup or still in the idea phase? Come on out to hear pitches, hear feedback, and network with members of Triangle entrepreneurial ecosystem. Audience members are encouraged to provide appropriate feedback to those pitching.

What if I can’t make it to the next event?

Worry not! We host IDEA Pitch bi-monthly and do our best to rotate venues around the Triangle. We hope to see you at an IDEA Pitch event soon!
