Sourcing Story

Venture Partner Chris Langford started building a relationship with Plantd in 2020. After tracking the company’s MVP and production facility development, when the opportunity arose the firm proactively connected Plantd with DR Horton, who became Plantd’s first customer. By the time the Series A came around, IFP was in prime position to invest in the company.

Conviction Points

Not only does the customer relationship with and strategic investment from DR Horton provide early validation, but Plantd is led by widely recognized sustainability and manufacturing entrepreneur Josh Dorfman. It is no surprise that Josh surrounded himself with a top-notch team from SpaceX/Tesla.
